A step by step guide to setup JSS with Sitecore 9.1




Do you want to install Sitecore JavaScript Services 11.0.0 with Sitecore 9.1

Then this blog will explain how to setup JSS in SItecore 9.1, step by step:

Download and Install Node JS



  • First download node.js https://nodejs.org/en/download/, based on your system specification
  • Install node using website root folder

Install NPM

  • Open command prompt
  • Go to the website root folder
  • Run the below command
  • npm install -g @sitecore-jss/sitecore-jss-cli



Install Sitecore JSS package:

Go to Sitecore developer:

https://dev.sitecore.net/Downloads/Sitecore_JavaScript_Services/110/Sitecore_JavaScript_Services_1100.aspx




Install the package as normal sitecore package:

  • Login to your Sitecore instance, and open the Desktop. On the Sitecore menu (lower left), click Development Tools, then Installation Wizard.
  • Install the JSS Server Components zip package using the Installation Wizard

All done!


Note: In Sitecore 9.1, you don’t have to add any configuration in web.config, all settings are already included in the package



Next Step – Create API Key

  1. Go to Master database, 
  2. Go to /sitecore/system/Settings/Services/API Keys
  3. Create new API key under API Keys folder and named it JSS API Key
  4. Set CORS Origins to *
  5. Set AllowedControllers to *





Note- previously the API keys setting was under core database, but in Sitecore 9.1 its placed in master database.

Note down your JSS API key item id

Hit the below URL


Replace the domain name and  apikey with your domain name and api key
